The Firefox Asterisk Revealer reveals the contents of any password whose text is obscured by asterisks in an alert box using a simple JavaScript.
How often do we forget are saved passwords? very often. It takes just a few months of blogging to accumulate so many passwords, I should personally have over 15 different accounts.
So how do I recover the password I’ve saved but can’t remember any more;
Here is your account;

Now you want to see the password in letters.Paste this script in your browsers address bar and hit enter
There you are; your password pops-up in letters

This script works on Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape and Opera.
To protect your passwords avoid saving them if you’re using a public or shared computer.

Um… Firefox has a built in feature for this:
Edit > Options > Security tab
click the ‘Show Passwords’ button, and in the window that pops up, click ‘Show Passwords’ and affirm the dialog box.
(For Windows users, Options is under the Tools menu)
Easy…

@built-in feature: It’s Edit>Preferences on Linux and Tools>Options on Windows. What were you referring to… OS X?

Seems to me this combined with some AJAX could be trouble…

[To Jake] Nope. Preferences in almost all OS X apps are in the application menu. So it’s Firefox > Preferences on OS X.

Joe Mama; not sure if you mean in terms of websites logging your passwords or what ..? If a website owner wants to log your password, it’s the easiest thing in the world.

Thanks for linkback!
Checkout FireMaster for master password… it works, but not as efficiently.

Many have asked why use this script when Firefox has a built in feature Edit>Preferences>Security>”Show Password” - the answer is simple; Because it works on many other browsers that do not have the Show Password feature.

I have Roboform password filler and it is one of the best pieces of software I have ever bought. It will fill web forms in for you and keeps all your passwords safe. I have hundreds of different passwords and it saves me lots of time.

Roboform is great, unfortunately it is neither free nor open source and moreover it is for Microsoft Windows only… too bad. I prefer KeePass
