Firefox 3.6.6 Updates Crash Protection Feature

Newly released Firefox 3.6.6 increases the amount of time Firefox plugins are allowed to be non-responsive before being terminated. In recently released Firefox 3.6.4 (now updated to 3.6.6) non-responsive out-of-process Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime or Microsoft Silverlight plug-ins were terminated only after 10 seconds. In Firefox 3.6.6 non-responsive plug-ins are terminated after 40 seconds, so gamers and users with older, slower computers don’t suffer premature termination of out-of-process plug-ins. Read More

VLC Portable 1.1.0 for your Pen Drive

VLC media player 1.1.0 with hard acceleration and WebM support was officially released yesterday for Mac, Linux and Windows OS. The no-install version for Windows platforms, a carbon copy of the original is now available for your portable drives. It takes only 21MB of your drive and can be run on systems with previous versions.
VLC Portable 1.1.0 is a free download released under the Open Source (GPL) license.
uTorrent 3.0 Alpha BitTorrent Client Released

The popular BitTorrent client uTorrent has released a preview of its next major update uTorrent 3.0. GIMP 2.6.9 Released

While waiting for the official release of Gimp 2.7 that introduces the ‘single window mode’ and other goodies, Gimp has just been updated to version 2.6.9, a regular 2.6 stable branch release with no new features but many bug fixes that handle issues in Gimp 2.6.8 such as; shared memory leaks, issues when importing PDF files with long titles, crashes when using the path tool, and more. Mozilla has finally released Firefox 3.6.4 that introduces the out-of-process plug-in protection technology code-named “Lorentz”. The out-of-process plug-in protection technology already present in Google Chrome “provides uninterrupted browsing for Windows and Linux users when there is a crash in the Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime or Microsoft Silverlight plug-ins.” Read More
