Firefox 3.6.4 Release Candidate available to Download

Firefox 3.6.4 Release Candidate

Firefox 3.6.4 with Crash Protection for ‘out of process plug-ins’ gets closer to the final release and leaves beta. The first release candidate of Firefox 3.6.4 is now available to download and public testing. This version fixes 202 bugs found in previous beta builds of Firefox 3.6.4 – 23 are marked as critical. If no issues are found during testing this build will be officially released as Firefox 3.6.4 final in the coming weeks.

If you’ve been testing previous beta builds, automatic update are already available Help -> Check for updates. If not then download Firefox 3.6.4 from Mozilla’s all-beta web site.

Notes: For one reason or another Mozilla still calls this build, Firefox 3.6.4 build 6, but if Mozilla Developer News is right and they are certainly right then this build is effectively a release candidate. But why so much confusion in the naming of builds.

Many of the critical bugs have to do with stability issues caused by Flash and Silverlight, so for a more stable and secure Firefox 3.6.4, you better update.

Update 1: Just got confirmation that Firefox 3.6.4 build 6 is effectively a Firefox 3.6.4 release candidate.
