In an effort to build a better browser or webapp launcher Google picked-up pieces of Apple’s Webkit and Mozilla Firefox to build-up Chrome. What could be the idea behind Chrome? The answer lies in this statement;
“We realized that the web had evolved from mainly simple text pages to rich, interactive applications and that we needed to completely rethink the browser. What we really needed was not just a browser, but also a modern platform for web pages and applications, and that’s what we set out to build.”
A beta version of this completely open source browser- Chrome will be launched today in 100 different countries, but for Windows only. Mac and Linux version are on the way.
