How-to Install SopCast in Ubuntu

This simple guide can be used to install SopCast in Ubuntu 11.10, 12.04 Precise Pangolin, 12.10 Quantal and later versions of Ubuntu. SopCast player adopts the P2P(Peer-to-Peer) technology to broadcast video and audio over the Internet. I’ve written about Sopcast on previous occasions;  here and here. Then installing SopCast in your Ubuntu was a little complicated, today its much easier with the PPA.

To install the PPA, copy and paste the following lines of code your terminal.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ferramroberto/sopcast
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install sopcast-player

Done with the installation, now launch SopCast
This PPA for years now has been very punctual in offering SopCast updates and upgrades across many Ubuntu versions. It began with Ubuntu 11.10 and has never failed a delivery. If you’re using a cutting-edge version of Ubuntu you might not be able to install SopCast with this PPA, it offers packages only for final releases.
