Transmission 2.0 BitTorrent Client released

Transmission 2.0 BitTorrent Client

The popular open-source BitTorrent client Transmission has updated to version 2.0, bringing with it several bugs fixes found in the previous 1.93 release, improvements and new features.

New features introduced in Transmission 2.0 include; “Local Peer Discovery” for finding peers on a users local network, better handling of 404 tracker errors, smarter heuristics when decclassing the order to connect to peers, and support more blocklist file formats.

The developers says Transmission 2.0 is faster at start-up and in the verification of local data. It also optimizes download requests based on the bandwidth available and uses IEC standard units (KiB, MiB, GiB) instead of (KB, MB, GB).

Many platform specific updates have been added; Mac OS X and Ubuntu (GTK) users both a condensed ‘Compact View’ that replaces Minimal View and an ‘Add Transfer’ windows that is displayed when adding magnet links.
Mac OS X users also gain get the ability to paste trackers into the Create Window, whilst Ubuntu GTK users get a new filter by tracker bar, a “Set Location” which supports moving multiple torrents at once. Read the full changelog for Transmission 2.0 and download.
