On your mark, get set to down Firefox 3.6 final, the official release is slated for tomorrow 21st January, but don’t bet on it, its not the first time the scheduled release date has been moved. Skype 2.1 beta 1 for Linux finally gets an upgrade, version 2.1 beta 2 comes with a bunch of new features to boost the stagnant growth rate in which Skype for Linux finds its self.
The major feature here is certainly the addition of Screen Sharing, a feature long present in the Windows and Mac versions of Skype. Screen sharing means – you can show your desktop to a Skype contact by simply calling that contact and sharing all or part of your desktop. More
Gnome: Chrome’s ‘Pin Tab’ feature that shrinks tabs to favicons only introduced a new way to save precious tab bar real estate in that browser, Firefox quickly got App Tabs extension. What we have here is a little libwnck hack that shrinks to icons only your windows in Ubuntu’s bottom panel, with the aim of providing more real estate space to the Windows List – its not really a great solution for those who often work with several applications opened at a time, especially browsers, I find Window Selector (right-click on bottom panel -> Add to Panel -> Window Selector) more suitable for such a task. It seems a security bug in Firefox 3.6 RC 1, Linux version has pushed Mozilla to build a second release candidate of Firefox 3.6. This built is already available for download, but release notes are not yet available so much can’t be said. Mozilla is also considering to officially release Firefox 3.6 final on Tuesday January 19, if other bugs don’t pop-up and if this update is enough to harness this bug – If not Firefox 3.6 will be shipped on Jan 26.
