Pioneers of the Inevitable, POTI, maker of the once popular open source media player Songbird, has announced on the Songbird blog that, due to financial reasons, as of June 28, 2013 all of Songbird’s operations and associated services will be discontinued.

The developers of the open source and cross platform media player and browser Songbird, have announced they are dropping Linux support. The announcement was made on the Songbird blog, where many Linux users of Songbird have expressed their disbelieve and dismay.
Songbird, the free and open source audio player application and web browser recently updated to version 1.4.1, but after a few bugs where found in v1.4.1 it then quickly updated to the most recent version 1.4.2.
