Opera, The Browser Of The Moment, Lands on iPhone

The “little red communist browser” as some call it is without doubts the browser of the moment. Yesterday, in a press release, Opera Software announced that Opera browsers exceed 100 million users – 50 million desktop users and 50 million mobile users. Well, Opera Mini, the mobile version of the Opera web browser has always been a leader in the mobile world, it market share in Africa goes over 70%, the good news for Opera fans it that Opera for Desktop is growing too on Windows, Mac and Linux computers.

Opera’s record growth on desktop was achieved following the launch of the Opera 10.5x generation. Now Opera has firmly secured its position as the world’s fastest browser — its JavaScript engine boasting speeds greater than seven times its predecessor Opera 10.10.

Today, Opera Mini is the first non-WebKit based mobile browser that has been approved for iPhone and iPod touch on the App Store. Opera Mini App will soon be available for free from the App Store at www.itunes.com/appstore/.

“We are delighted to offer iPhone and iPod touch users a great browsing experience with the Opera Mini App,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “This app is another step toward Opera’s goal of bringing the Web to more people in more places.”
